whenever I let off of the gas pedal and back into it the truck lurches, it also does this when im decellerating and its changing gears.. Changed the diff fluid and it helped a little no shavings in the pan. Checked the driveshaft and when the rear is lifted I can move the shaft and axles/tires about a 1/2 inch any ideas?
yeah this is way more than a clunk its like a hop/thud. the truck like pauses moves up and down slightly then is fine till another gear oddly tho its smooth through the foward gears while acclerating, just when re-accellerting and gearing down while braking.
Think it's more of a computer thing? I have an 86 302 EFI manual. Sometimes, when going half throttle, if I go full throttle, it just pops to full throttle, not eases into it. Like it misses the graph for the in-between fuel charts, lol.
to me it sounds more like a tranny problem. I had one of my friends check it out and he said it sounds like the syncronizers are going out on it. its an AOD 4 speed auto
All the synchronizers do is make it easy for the shift lever to go from one gear to another. Does the shifter lurch side to side? If so, it could be a motor mount or a tranny mount.
Let me get something straight. Manual or automatic?
Does it only do it when you are completely off the throttle, then give it some gas. That 'could' be driveline problems.
Or if you are going 30% throttle, then press down to 80%, do you feel a hesitation and then it goes? Maybe makes it feel like a clunk, but really caused from the engine.
its an Automatic and it does it when its completely off the throttle getting back into it, or when im totally off the throttle and slowing down as it goes through the lower gears
