Dual exhaust question

Hello all. I've got an 86 F150 4x4 and am contemplating a dual exhaust setup. It has the 302 EFI in it and is lacking in the power dept. I had the inline cats checked today and that's when I noticed that the manifold pipes both go directly into 1 converter. What's the best way to go dual on this truck? Ive heard somewhere that the pipes both run down the same side. Will an exhaust shop (Meineke) do the swapover to dual? I hate to scrap good cats only to buy 2 more for the dual setup. has anyone out there done this conversion and is it worth it in the power dept?
Thanks for any info. <https://www.ford-trucks.com/dcforum/Images/bdaybiggrin.gif>

Dual exhaust question

Aren't you just overwhelmed with all the responses to your question!!!I don't have cats on my 77 but it would seem logical to me that to keep the system Legal and still maximize your performance that you would want the Best , low backpressure , cat available , And in addition i would look for an exhaust system designed Specifically for your particular vehicle by a company like BORLA , major , brand name company---and a good hiflow system maybe a single pipe of sufficient size so as not to need a duel sustem----the exhaust system may need a "performance chip" to achieve maximum performance!!!fd :-X11
