well I had the same problem and I bought a OBD reader and it did not tell me what was wrong i think it was easiest to just take it in to ford. i have heard of of some dealerships scaming people for extra work or parts so you might want to check to see what kind of reputation the dealership has.

The biggest problem with check engine lights is that a code is just a code. It needs to be diagnosed. Buy a scanner and pull a code.then what. People that come to my shop don't seem to understand at times that the reason for the code needs to diagnosed. if you have an EGR code it doestn't necessarily mean you need a new egr valve. the light could be on for any number of reasons. THAT is why we charge a 99.00 diag fee. Some auto parts stores will scan ur vrhicle for free,......because they want to sell you parts that probably won't fix the problem. your best bet would be to see a mechanic unless you have diagnostic skills

yeah i know about that its just everything seems to be fine i hear a very very light gurggling noise from the truck(could just be exhaust, cant hear well cause i'm sick) but i think its normal. Are fords still having probs with the gas caps making the light come on?

Advance and AutoZone both do the free scan for codes. Check your local library for subscription online reference manuals (Alldata/Mitchell's on Demand) for more detailed steps on troubleshooting the codes that you come up with.
