Blacked out Head Lights ???

I am currently looking for a quality pair of blacked out headlights at an affordable price. I know the OEM's are the best , followed by Hella . But I cant see dishing out $300-$400. I have seen other aftermarket companies selling for around $125 on E-bay . I wonder how they hold up over time , fitment,fading,leaking,ect......... Any reccomendation's ????????????????

ahh...you guys

to answer your question. Nothing beats OEM. The Hellas themselves have a nasty reputation for leaking...which is weird, since they are usually an really good company.

The eBay lights are one of those "You get what you pay for things". Alot of guys have them, and alot of them suffer leaks. You can try to prevent leaks by using a good outdoor silicone though.

I did the DIY Black Lights things as described in my thread I love the way they look. You can personalize the lights to your taste. I left some of the reflective part on my lights. But the OEM FX4/FX2 black lights and the HD lights are 100% black

It's easy, and very cheap. Just be patient and use alot of silicone when sealing it up. Mine are still nice and dry after several months and lots of Tropical Monsoon style storms

Thanks,
I remember your original DIY post (Nice Job). I was thinking once I purchased the blk headlights and install them I would play around the oem units (Oxford White) Tacky ????? Did you sand the chrome before you sprayed them?

yep, but I've since read about a better way to do it.

the chrome itself is only a paint on the plastic. I used 300 grit sandpapers and sanded like a madman and it worked for the most part.

somebody else just used some acetone and quickly got all the chrome off down to bare plastic...but gotta be quick since the acetone might eat the plastic.

then they sanded the plastic for the adherant surface.

If I ever have to do it again, I'll remove the chrome instead of sanding it

They want $50 to ship when it might cost $20 to ship 'em.

Otherwise, I like the way they look. Would definetely need a good coating of silicone though...which luckily the hood hides
