2006 F-350 6.0L. Driving down the interstate the other night, the truck had spurts of losing power, gradually getting worse to the point that it wouldn't climb a hill. If I pulled over and let it idle for a few minutes, it would have power back for a minute or two and then start to stumble all over itself again. It eventually stalled and wouldn't restart. I got it back to the garage and replaced the fuel filters. It will now start and run at base idle. If the idle is bumped up to about 1100, it will run fine then start to run rough and finally stall right out after about 5 minutes. The fuel pressure is a constant 48 psi even as the truck is stalling. Check engine light does not come on and no codes are stored in the computer. Anybody have any suggestions? Sorry if a similar problem has been answered elsewhere, but I couldn't find anything.
I had similar symptoms. I pulled my EGR and cleaned it. It was completely clogged up with black soot. This reduced the problem for me but did not make it go away. I then replaced both fuel filters and the problem is gone. I had about 25K on the old fuel filters and I could see some discoloration and it appeared to be dirty stuff covering a lot of the surface areas.
Filters are now brand new. I'm going to disconnect the EGR valve tomorrow morning and see if it runs any better. When I try to restart it after it stalls, it takes longer than usual to start and it stumbles quite a bit before it smooths out. Those symptoms make me think fuel issue.....but not sure. BTW... the engine is pretty much stock (4" exhaust and airraid intake) and the truck has only 20,000 miles on it.
I messed around with it some more this morning. I managed to get 2 codes now. P0263 Cylinder 1 Contribution or Balance Fault and P0269 Cylinder 3 Contribution or Balance Fault. Sounds like a little validation for the injector 1 and 3 suggestion.

Hi,
I would also run a treatment of Hot Shot's Secret through it to clean up the injectors and insure they are not an issue as well.
We believe that stiction, which is an issue with the 6.0, may be lending itself to other problems. A malfunctioning injector(s) may not always be obvious but it definitely will cause fuel system related issues.
We are offering free shipping on Hot Shot's Secret, Fire Power 404 and the NT Oil Additive (for your trans)...calling it the Tune Up Trio.
Nice work gentlemen. I replaced #1 and #3 injectors, and it solved the problem. I appreciate the help. Now my question turns to Why. How does fuel gelling wipe out 2 injectors on this motor (I had howe's fuel additive in the fuel to try to prevent gelling)? Why are 1 and 3 the ones that go, or is that just a weird coincidence that both of us had the same 2 injectors go out?
