I have an ignition switch and key, but the key is not for this switch. I would like to remove the cylinder and replace it with another one that has keys that work.
Since the key I have doesn't work I cannot turn the cylinder inside the switch so I am looking for suggestions on how to remove the cylinder and not have to buy a complete switch.
If,
you can purchase a new lock-cyl & switch for $20.
What's the problem?
Try, going to your Ford dealer & asking for a VIN Coded key copy.
This is where you take your VIN, license regstraion, & drivers license.
& ask the parts counter person for a key to your truck using the VIN
from the truck.
They should be able to use the info to get you a key,
providing that the truck has it's original locks.
I don't know if they will be able to do this for sure, do to the age of truck.
But if you still truely wish to get the old LockCyl out.
You will have to drill it out.
Starting with a small bit then, working up to a larger bit.
Until you reach a size big enough that allows you to turn the LockCyl.
This is a long & tasking job. But it will get you what you want.
I've done this a few times to my own auto's
Good luck.
