So i was at the local junk yard and they got a new truck in, not sure what year it is yet but it looks to be an 75 maybe, f250. IT has a closed knuckle front end appears to be a dana 44. My question is the closed design better than what i currently have? which is the standard open knuckle off my f100.

The simple answer is no. There is a reason why we do not see the closed knickle design any longer. Thes axles have rather small u-joints, are prone to leakage, and damage of the knuckle, or ball itself. These are rather dificult to seal. These axles are small and most have coarse splines. This axle is also a low pinion design, and replacement componants are difficult to find. You will have a heak of a time finding axles when you do break one.
Not much aftermarket support for this axle, and this is why you will find them at salvage yards, or for sale just about everywhere. Nobody wants them.
