I have a 99 5.4 and one of my friends told me that i can get it tuned to put out black smoke like a powerstroke. Is this true?

Not so much. The black smoke from the diesel is incomplete combustion. I don't think gasoline will produce nearly as dark exhaust from running rich. You can get one of those kits from auto lock which injects a smoke chemical (probably dirty/wet kerosene) into the tail pipe.

Unless you can get it to dump a ton of fuel into the cylinders, it wont be efficient. ( like a choke stuck on)

Remember to much fuel, can put the fire out

I did not think it would be anything like a diesel. I think it would put out just enough to see and not enough that people would just think there was something wrong. I would also think it would be easier for a diesel to put out some since they us heat and pressure unlike gas witch uses spark.

why would u want to waste feul and have a "dirty" exhaust anyways..

to me having smoke coming outa ur pipes is a sign of a truck not running correctly..

not to mention with feul being so expensive i really dont understand why u would want to waste even a drop u didnt have to...

Sure you could do it, it's called "running very rich"

However, you'd clog the cat, or even worse, make it glow cherry-red. But then, you'd have "real flames" on your truck

It is true. the smoke wont be black it will be more of a gray color, I dont know if he stock injectors will richen up the mix enough to make a huge cloud but it can be done, With my KB at WOT it runs a FAT AFR of 10.2 and when im screaming down the road there is a cloud of unburnt fuel coming out of the duals in the back, looks cool but not good for making power, KB does this so they can advance the timing and not run into detonation.
