Dually swap
Hello,Ok let me get this straight,
I have a 99 F350 4x4, Ext cab, LB, V-10, SRW, 3.73LS
All i have to do is get a set of rims from a junk yard for a Super duty, and they will bolt on to the rear axle RIGHT?
then i get a set of front axle adapters from a dually and they will bolt right to the front of my axle. Then all i got to do is bolt on the front wheels.
This will convert my truck to a dually and look factory and wont cause any problems RIGHT?
I'm only doing this to put a flat bed on my truck and make it my service truck, instead om my 1967 F-800, I just dont like the looks of a flatbed with SRW, and i do need the wider bed of a DRW. My truck only has 117000 miles and i have a lot of extras on it, so i really dont want to trade, so i thought this might be an option. I have read several different things and im confused, why do they sell aftermarket kits if its this easy? And then I heard there are 2 different bolt patterns, like a 8-170 and a 8-200 but what was the old bolt pattern, of the older 8 bolt wheels, like 70's up thought the 90's?
sorry for long post
Thanks
Shawn
If it's the 99.5 SD model, the DRW axle is different from the SRW. Among other things, it should have longer tubes to accomidate the massive offset of the dually wheel. I you tried it on a SRW axle, you would probably be rubbing the springs with the inside tires.
But to be honest, I can't for the life of me find any schematic/ website that shows it.
