An easy question
I have an 89 Bronco with a 302. I the engine rarely runs above 3,500 rpm- so what I am looking for is to improve low/ midrange performance and better mileage is a plus too.
It currently has JBA headers, the two original cats, then it necks down from 3 to 2.5 inches(output from the second cat is 2.5") into a rusted out dynomax muffler, and exits through a 3" stainless pipe.
I definitely need to replace the muffler- with a flowmaster probably. Is it worth the trouble to make the system 3" in diameter the whole way though?
Also, I live in CA but do I need both of the cats? How about a high-flow cat, would it be worth the cost and work? Any other advice?
