Vacuum Problems!

It seems like every vacuum line under the hood of my truck is so brittle that just looking at them makes them break. I buy the little rubber pieces to splice broken lines together in bulk, every time I get under the hood to do something I break a line or find one that is already broken.

The latest culprit is the white vacuum line on the passenger side of the truck that comes out of a loom of lines and wires and goes under the heater hoses and to that controls whether or not the heat is on recirculate or fresh. I cut the loom apart and pulled the line out, cut out the bad section, spliced it back toghether, and routed it away from the heater hoses.

Now my heater controls do not work. I obviously broke the another vacuum line in that loom. I know the line come out from the firewall and then to a vacuum source. The question is: does it go to the manifold or the plastic vacuum reservor. The line is black and I am hoping it is broke between where I cut into the loom and the vacuum source so I can just replace the line from where I cut into the loom and the source, not under the dash.

Sorry about the long post, but I do not know where the hell it goes, there are about 100 black vacuum lines under the hood of the truck. Thanks in advance for any help!
