need more power

hi all.
im looking for the most bang for the buck performance mods for my truck. its a 91 f150 lariat ext cab 2wd w/ a 302. i dont realy care about the hp numbers just the seat of the pants feel. i just want to have a fun truck to drive around in. as far as budget goes its low bux but im saveing and not cheaping out. i want it done the right way the 1st time. it will just take longer doing it twice. so far it only has a k&n filter, stock replacement not the intake. and it has a throtle body spacer. both done by old owner so im not sure if that did anything or not. it also has a posi, not sure if its factory or not but ive never had it break lose and im always doing burnouts.

thanks for the help

so what is your budget and ability level?
i would throw on long tube headers lose the cat and duel exhaust, if you are able pick up some gt 40 heads throw a quick port job on them and have them milled to bump up the compression a bit (AFR heads will be better) and i ditched my crappy speed density fuel injection system for a edelbrock air gap manifold and a carb with an HEI dissy with a mallory coil (not in the picture) and toss a fat roller cam in there it's pretty simple to convert your block to a roller block it already has the bosses you just drill them out and toss on that spider looking retainer thingie

you should also do gears and a you can use a real high stall converter with the aod because it locks up the converter in 3rd i have a 3500 on my truck and it's my daily driver makes for a fun ride probably runs mid 14s now but i am going to steal the NOS cheater system off my t-bird and throw it on my truck for a weekend and head down to the track and see if i can get 13s or 12s with out blowing it up lol but if i do i can get another shortblock for $300 out of a junk yard, that's what i love about these motors

you do not have posi, you have limited sip.

throttle body spacer was a waste of time and money.

keep doing burn outs and you will be worrying about repairing things not getting more performance.

start with a good tuneup with quality parts.

no bosch platinums.

tricks are for kids.

Put a blower on it for 3500-4000 bucks. That'll keep you happy for a little while.

Start with gearing, 4.10's would produce lots of SOTP boost and the more the motor is built the more it will take advantage of those gears.

exhaust is always a good starting point get some headers and if you dont have emissions lose the cat (get a high flow one if you do) your call on if you want a muffler you'll feel some power gain from that

i just ripped a 460 out of a lincon town car. needs head gaskets.

for real air flow in and out of the motor is a start. so is spark. a programer never hurt either.
