i heard the roads were pretty treacherous on friday and saturday nights this past weekend. one guy said about 18 semi's in the ditch between medicine hat and regina. between moose jaw and regina there were 8 roll overs, one incident where a suv was in the median and while the two guys tried to dig it out, a semi jack-knifed and killed them both...
hope everyone keeps in mind to be ultra safe out there... this time of year is a bad one for travel!!!!
My dispatcher callled me when I was on my way back from Speedy Creek on Friday and asked me how were the roads.
I just said.... Im wearing my seatbelt.
Thats some crazy stories Sherm, sad to hear about the guys with the SUV.
Ryan, that sounds like the typical dispatcher, most of them seem to be more concerned that you made it there and delivered safely though haha.
Marlon, I actually have driven so much on crappy roads that I just kinda grew somewhat immune to it. If the roads get crappier, im a little smarter now then i used to be when i was young, and I slow down!
i'm sort of like marlon... if there's no need to be on the road in lousy conditions, stay home. its that much worse of you have others in the vehicle with you...more responsibility...
kudo's to you prep for being one of the wise ones who slow down and take care driving in poor conditions. i don't choose to stay home because of my ability, but the stupidity of others that could put me and my family/passengers in danger!!!
The roads around here on friday where okay but on saturday there was a few nasty spots. Fortunately the highway was pretty quite on saturday and my truck is really good on ice. It is pretty lousy in snow though so getting around in the city had it's moments.

Thanks man, and I can respect why you choose to not be out and about. When i have kids i will probably do the same. When roads are bad I always try to take the diesel to, going to be alot harder for someone to wreck me in that thing, then in the civic!
With my line of work though, there is always driving, road conditions just seem to make your day a whole lot longer sometimes.
Wish I could say I was ALWAYS a careful driver though lol.
Im with you Sherm, It's not my abilities as a driver but some of the other's on the road. Coming home from Saskatoon at Christmas the roads where ok, but visibility was down due to snow and blowing snow. I was driving around 80klm and felt safe at that speed untill some semi passed my and with 3" of fresh snow in the passing lane I couldn't see a thing. I thought I was going to hit the ditch or have some one hit me from behind as I slowed right down.
That sounds like something I was doing, I wasnt on the road at that time but in the semi blowing and lying snow is just as easier as driving in normal conditions.
It makes up for everytime some city racer cuts infront of me then slams on their brakes.
Sorry for playing Devils advocate
