1970 302 Header question

Here it is we have a 55 Merc M100. It has a 1970 302 engine in it. I would like to put headers on it, but am not getting any guidance from local shops. Is there anyone who has a 302 in theres with headers. Looking for brandétype that i should be using. Thanks for your help.

I'm in the process of putting headers on my EFI 302 in my 92 F150. I got flowtech shorty headers. I started this morning at about 11. The driver's side wasn't too bad to put on, but I broke two bolts on the passenger side. So the truck sits in my friend's garage until I can continue tomorrow after school. I'll let you know anything you'd like to know once I finish. Which will hopefully be tomorrow night.

I have a '55 F-100 w/ a 302 that I put a Mustang II aftermarket front suspension in. Also have a GM column so I had to work up the links from the column to the rack. Probably not at all what you have. I had to buy 2 sets of headers (Hedman and Hooker) and I used one side from each to address my funky clearance issues. Also bought a set of Mustang h-pipes and I had to cut and weld one side to get it to work.

Depending on where your axle/crossmember is in relation to the engine, any decent set of block hugger headers should work. I know Sanderson makes them. You may also want to check out Zoop's hotrod parts on the web. I'm pretty sure they have a generic block hugger set for the SB Ford.

Just some food for thought if you decide to use the block hugger headers, you will need to use a mini starter too. The collector flange on the block huggers is too close to the stock starter. There are no ots headers long tubes for this application. IF you have welding and fab skills you could buy a diy long tube header kit. I used after market Mustang shorty headers no clearance issues.
