Bilstein Part Numbers

I have been researching this to death - the more I do the more confused I become.

I have a 2004 F250 5.4 Super Duty Super cab - with short bed and factory plow package - front leaf springs. It sits way high and is stock. I have been plowing with it since day one and it has 80K.

The blue and yellow HD Bilsteins end in 18 and 19? Or not?

Ebay has some 5,100's listed for no lift in rear and 1-2" in front. Wouldn't these work? My truck sits up much higher than a friends F350 that calls for the same part number. I would rather get these because of the color and the plow activity....

Any help would be apreciated. This site is awesome...

Thanks!

I just had a similar conversation with another person on these forums. He didnt understand what you are decribing. I have a 250 sd with plow package= heavier front springs.

My reccomendation is take off the front shock and measure it fully extended, Then go to the parts store get a stock one and measure that one. That will take the mystery out and give you hard numbers. Also measure the shock fully compacted. Make sure it is the same.

thats what I would do anyways
Good Luck

Yep, the 2818 and 2819 are stock height shocks.

These are most likely the 1-3" fronts and 0-1" rears you're referring to:
Bilstein 5100 - 1"-3" Front Lift Application - 1999-2004 Superduty 4wd - 5100 Series (Lifted Applications) - Truck Toyz Store
Bilstein 5100 - 0"-1" Rear Lift Application - 2005-2008 Superduty 4wd - 5100 Series (Lifted Applications) - Truck Toyz Store

I would think that with the plow package and the 5.4 you'd have plenty of height to run them.

I run the ones for a small lift on my stock height 07 F-350 PSD that I plow with.
Just be sure to spray them with Fluid Film or WD-40 in the winter months to protect them from the road salt.

Bilstein reccomends that you purchase a set of bump stops for the 5100 series if you dont have a 4-6" lift in the front, pre 05. check this page out all the info your looking for is here http://www.allshocks.com/bilstein/ht...year='2004'

2005 and up can purchase a bts kit for the front. the kit comes with 2 front springs which raises the front 2.25 inches. the info can be found here - http://www.bilstein.com/offroad.php#5100pre

FWIW, for anyone that plans on running a snow plow the progressive rate on the Bilstein coils will sag a little under the weight of the plow. Ride great without a plow though.

IMO, a spacer setup and stock springs is the best for running a plow.

On my 07 my stock bumpstop will hit prior to the shocks bottoming out.

Thanks guys! This site is great. Remember back before the internet when we were at the mercy of dealers and local honda mechanics?

Where is the best place to buy these 5100 shocks and the energy suspension sway bar kit?? (NOT RED)
