Knock Sensor

Does my truck have a Knock Sensor and where would it be located :

1997 F250 4x4 (auto tranny ) 5.8
I believe it is Speed density and not MAF

on the back of block near the top.

it is right where the trans and engine bolt up, right in the top center of the block.

I don't think the 5.8's have one.....

Only the 5.0 and the 4.9 have knock sensors.

I noticed an increase in MPG using higher octane because of my 5.0 KS. I dont understand why more modern engines dont have KSs.

i do have a picture that subford posted at one time, it did show a knock sensor on the 5.0 v8 where i said.

all the ford manuals i have 94- 96 state v8s do not have one but the 4.9 does.

so, it must of at one time and then did not in the later years.

I know the Chevy 350's had them on the side of the block therfore that is where I was looking, but if mine dont have one, I guess I wont look for one anymore. Thanx
