Stalls in reverse
I appreciate this forum! I read through some of the info posted here (like the "read first" sticky), and found what was said about the Idle Air Control valve. I thought that might just be the answer to my problem, but it didn't seem to do it.
I have an F250 LD 4X4, 1997 with a 5.4 and 112,000 miles. Most of the time when I shift it into reverse it stalls. I noticed after I canged the IACV that it didn't stall for the first half a dozen times I tried it (driving around the block), but then it started to do it again once the truck had warmed up. I can usually hit reverse without it stalling once I've restared, or if I go to neutral first and give it a little gas.
My next course of action is to change the transmission fluid and filter. I'm not sure what that will do, but it can't hurt. Any other ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Randy
