Just posted some pictures of my y block in my gallery under engine.
Color turned out just like I wanted. I need to do some more contrasting colors, but so far it`s what I envisioned. Also shows an alternator bracket
I came up with. More on that later, pics, etc.
Any suggestions?
I painted my engine the same color as my truck. If you look in my gallery you can see the truck painted. I don't have a good picture of the engine yet. I am running a 302
Thanks. The engine has about 3 coats of a special mix rattle can paint. Bought at a local auto paint supplier. Color is "Electric Current Red". Which is a mid 1990s Lincoln color. Then engine was then treated to a couple coats of a 2 part epoxy clear-coat. As I finish the build I`ll take a few more pics with a little more detail on the alternator bracket.
Thanks for looking.
That color choice made a nice looking job. It kinda goes with the color of the name tag on the front of the carb! Looks like you spent a lot of time to have it look that great!
Really looks sharp, makes the accessories stand out. I recently rebuild a 302 in my current project (78 F100), use Duplicolor Blue, but I only clearcoated the oil pan, its in my gallery, but does't look anything as nice as your. Keep up the good work.
Very nicely done! Nothing like a Fresh, Hot, Y! It doesnt get any better than that! I'm sure it set you back a little $$ but in the long run you'll be very happy with it.
that is a damn good lokking engine. Ive never really had any kind of experience with Y blocks (nice picture of the Y blocks by the way) the ports look like they would flow well and I have never seen the over under design. Do they make good power for there dispacement?
Gary has a real nice F-100 and I saw his engine before he painted it so I know how well the final paint job came out. He's a really great guy and if it wasn't for FTE I may not have had the opportunity to meet him!
