Exclamation #2 and #4 misfire.

Service Engine Soon light recently came on and noticed the truck was vibrating real bad when accelerating. It is fine at an idle or at a constant speed but upon accelerating, my truck turns into a 5000 pound massage chair. Notice it the most at about 12-1300 rpm. Ran the codes at Autozone and they come up with #2 and #4 misfire. I knew about a misfire not the numbers. I suspected coils. How do I check the coils on these cylinders? I tried to pull the wire clip going to it to see if there would be a change and I couldn't pull it off. I don't have any special equipment so I thought this would be the best way. Any suggestions?

Kinda have to get this done ASAP because I need to get back to school which is a two and a half hour drive.

If you can't get the coil wire disconnected and you are in a hurry you better get some help. I would say it's time to replace all the plugs and coils.

Well second time around I noticed it's the #2 and #4 coil pack going to replace them. Will the service engine soon light, if all goes as planned, still be on or should it turn off?

#4 might be a coolant leak from the heater hose. What I found helpful when removing the wire going to the coil is to first push the wire in while depressing the clip and then it comes off pretty easy. If you run out of time and need to get back to school, you might have to run without overdrive on the way home.

For your other question, whenever you replace the coil, disconnect the battery so that when you are done the computer will reset.

I can get the wires off easy now. I just purchased 2 new ones, not too happy about the price. Now just getting back to the 4th one's going to be a total pain. Thanks for the replies. I'll check for a coolant leak.

There are some discussion threads on the #4 Cylinder Misfire P0304 code. Hope that helps.

Well it's been a while since I've been school is a busy place. But I got the new coils in. Took about a half hour without pulling the fuel rail to get to the #4 cylinder. It was a total pain getting back there but it definitely beats having to deal with taking the fuel rail out. Didn't see any evidence of a coolant leak. Took it for a test drive around the block, no service engine light and it runs great. Drove it for 200 miles straight, no service engine light so I'm pretty sure it's fixed.

No I didn't go to Ford for a new one, I don't remember the last time I went there for a replacement part. I picked up Duralast brand cops from Autozone, I remember reading on here to not buy them from autozone but it was last resort. I'm not a fan of Autozone because when I went to get a Pittman Arm Puller I looked and said this isn't big enough, are you sure this is a Pittman Arm Puller? They said yes, turns out it was a tie rod end puller so now i'm hesitant about buying anything from the place. Normally I would go to Napa but it was a Sunday and they weren't open. Paid about 48 bucks a piece for them, couldn't imagine replacing all of them and plugs at the same time, pretty effin' expensive.

I couldn't see any physically, granted it is difficult to see down the #4 spark plug cavity. I did take a small shop vac however and stuck it over both holes hoping to suck up any moisture or dirt that could be in there.

I would check the plugs to I mean how many miles r on the truck cause i replaced my plugs last year and have replaced 2 coils so far. I was suprised at how much dirt and grease was down in each one of the spark plug holes.

I replaced the plugs about a year and half two years ago or so. I'm not too sure. I was surprised by all the gunk around the cops, I was scared it was going to all fall down in there so I took a vacuum to the area when I took them out.
