No, I did not. You need compressed air to blow out the area before removing the plugs. I bet you will find moisture in one or more of the coil boots. That is the problem. Clean and dry them out, liberally. Plenty of dieelectric and re-install. If problem persists, then there's a bad coil or wire. There is a way to test the coil and boot assembly but it may not be worth the fabbing VS getting a new one and replacing/swapping as you go. BTW, it will likely only be one coil. If more than one is on the way south, which is rare, it will drive like a total POS. Just one makes it feel like the tranny is about to fall out of it.
Sorry I missed you. I could have used an excuse to drive somewhere today. Maybe next time. Let me know if you have any more ?s on the Navigator.
I just sprung for the new wires for the wifes EXPY. I think it was about $30 for the good set, and that fixed the problem. the reader I was using gave me the misfire code, and I figured I would start witht he wires first since I had done the plugs about 6 months earlier.
Yep, my BIL has not done either plugs or wires yet on the vehicle, and it's hitting a tad over 84K miles right now, so he's planning on both wires and plugs when he gets home. When he did the vehicle history report on it before getting this Nav back in the summer, he found that it had already had two coils put on it at that point.

Well, the plugs are supposed to be good for 100k. I can say that the ones I pulled out looked like they could easily go that. As for the coils, they like to throw crap at these vehicles under warranty. SURPRISE. I bet none of his coils or wires are bad. Bet he has moisture/connection problems. I saw it first hand.
When you look at how the plugs and wires sit in a 4.6 and 5.4, you will see where the problem exists with moisture. Burn it out, or live with it.
Pull and inspect all the coils/boots. Clean them properly and grease them, I bet it will sing along for many miles.
