Unhappy What Ya Think??

Alright, so Im driving a 98 ranger xlt with the 4.0 liter v6. Well i got an engine running hot, and a tailpipe thats smoking like hell and drippin water/radiator fluid. Blown head Gasket, cracked block? Anyone got an idea?

Sounds like typical evidence of a blown head gasket. You could check the oil dipstick to see if any water is in the oil pan, but it doesn't always go in there. Change both head gaskets with good quality new ones so it would be less likely to happen again. Get both heads checked for cracks and being warped by a machine shop before you put them back on so you know that you have good ones to use. Some 4.0 heads are prone to cracks but I'm not sure if yours is in that group. Someone else that may reply to this may know which ones may be affected.

Thanks very much for the input rangerman stan, i started the fun task of gett'n down to the valve covers today.
