Is there any performance exhaust sytem out there that is as quiet as the stock system? I have a performance exhaust on my 04 F250 5.4 and was getting 14.7 MPG on highway. After taking a 4 hour trip and going crazy from the low tone for that long I put a stock Walker system back on. Guess what I now only get 9.7 MPG on the highway. So I want the performance of aftem market but the stock sound. Am I asking to much?
Walker makes the Dynomax systems in which the company I work for is direct with. I put one on my 00 V10 X with the Super Turbo single system and it was quiet as stock and up'd my mileage to 13 from 11. I just got my Super Turbo dual kit in for my 05 250 5.4 which cost us $200. I am hoping it has the low rumble that I am looking for.
Thanks guys and sorry if I posted in the wrong area. As far as the milage goes The exhaust was the only thing that changed and there was that much of a difference in milage. I made the same trip 2 weeks later after the exhaust was changed. Not saying there may be more going on but Nothing else change and the truck runs fine.
I just watched a Flowmaster comercial, on the side of a page on these forums. It went into detail on just what your describing. Sound and fuel economy.
I have always used flowmasters because of there durability. It is important in NEOhio winters. They last along time.
The 70series is a mellow muffler, I modified mine to get more sound out of it.
After putting long tube headers and y-pipe, full aftermarket exhaust and a performance cat on my truck I didn't really notice a change in mpg. I don't do much highway so maybe thats why. Sounds to me like the OP got some bad gas or was driving against a decent wind.
