Brembo sells rotors for the Excursion, I would imagine that these would be good rotors, what do you all think?

+1 on what Monsta said. Everytime my rotors feel like they're warped, I will slam my brakes on as hard as I can (when driving alone) from a speed of about 50MPH. That works to "scrape" off the build-up, and my brakes are once again smooth. I will upgrade my pads ... probably will try some Hawk LTS pads.

That never worked for me. Not even having them turned on a lathe several times within a couple years would keep the pulsating feeling away for very long. It wasn't until I switched to the cryo'd Powerslots and Hawk LTS pads that my braking problems were solved.

I ordered the Hawk LTS pads today, but I'm holding off on new rotors. I've been on a few Excursion forums since 2003, and I've heard of a few older users who switched to cryo-treated rotors years ago eventually had the pulsating return. I also see your X is an early model, but my '01 acted the same as my '05 ... brake hard to scrape off some build-up, and they were good for a few weeks until the build-up started again.

I've had my cryo'd rotors and LTS pads on since 11/06. So far, so good without ANY hint of the pulsating returning.

This is including towing my 31' 10K lb TT to Yosemite a couple times, towing my 10K lb dump trailer MANY times, and towing my Sundowner 4-horse bumper pull quite a few times.

I've never read where other cryo users have had the pulsating return.

Please post up some links, I'd like to read the threads so I can see what conditions the vehicle was used for to cause the problem, and what pads were used with the rotors.

Thanks.

Go do a search if you're so inclined. I'm not spending time going back over plowed ground.

Brembo is usually very good stuff, right up there with Baer. If your going to those kinds of extremes, I would go with a 2 piece rotor, directionally vaned and no drill/slots. The 2 piece is nice, because you can replace the pad surface and keep the hub hat, which should be a little cheaper.

My 7.3l truck weighs in at 9k, and pull a JD 250 and 280 skid loader. Ive put the cryo powerslots on the front and rear of it. No shaking in the last 50k miles, Ive had them on. I also did our early 99 truck with them, they have closer to 75k-100k on them, and its been sitting the last couple months. Drove it around about a weekago, still seem to work good, and no shake. I also run the OEM pads in all 4 corners though. Hate to be in the choir, but they work.

My oem rotors didnt shimmy till around 100k or so

Wait, you're implying the threads are here on FTE?

Granted there's no way for me to read or even know about every thread on FTE regarding cryo'd Powerslots, but I've never seen one thread here on this forum claiming the pulsating feeling came back.

When i have time, I'm gonna have to do some searching because way back when I first researched this mod, there were zero posts or threads from anyone saying the pulsating came back.

I guess I have a lot of reading to do in the near future!

I read that thread and thought to myself, "Huh, I had the hubs changed on my Excursion??"

All joking aside, a few years back when I was deciding if I wanted to do the cryo'd Powerlots, I couldn't find one post about the pulsating feel coming back after changing to the cryo'd rotors.

There were a couple posts where the pulsating feel came back, but the rotors that were used were the "standard" non-cryo treated rotors.

I had cryo'd, slotted rotors on my 2000 Excursion from Applied Rotor Technology. The pulsating came back after about 4K miles due to me not knowing then how to break in the pads properly. Ever try to find someone who will resurface slotted rotors?? Few and far between...

i just replaced the front rotors and pads on my 02 X and the pulsating was back immidiatly!! i only used mapa brand rotors that cost me $116 each and now im pissed.. the sliders are greased properly and the old pads were worn evenly.. the wheel bearings were a little loose when i took it apart and examined the bearings closely tighned them properly and npw i am wonderig if any one has had a pulsating pedal and shaking steering wheel from something other then a "warped rotor" i am tempted to take these back and make them turn them just to see if there not true brand new..
any advise would be welcomed!
thanks
