I have a 76 ford high-boy with a 460. I just rebuilt it and when i called my local muffler store to price a 3" exhaust, they said that i couldnt put 3" on a 460. Is this true?

what a load of BS. of course it can be done! you just need a "transition" pipe or "y" from the manifolds to the 3" pipe. any competent shop can make one for you. i put a 3" on my truck with stock manifolds from the "y" all the way out. i have the 351w.
it is true that a 3" will not bolt right on to the stock manifolds but like i said just taper a pipe from the manifold to the 3" exhaust.
and go with mandrel bent and go to another shop.
hope that helps some.
oh and it cost $860 Canadian or $533 US. it is all welded, mandrel bent stainless steel. no clamps.
