2003 E250 1 Ton?

Hey All, I'm looking at buying this 2003 E-250 Cargo, the guy says it's a 1 ton. I thought all 250's were 3/4 ton?

Isn't the E-350 the only 1 ton?

150/1500= 1/2 ton
250/2500 = 3/4 ton
350/3500 = 1 ton

there are light and heavy versions of the 3/4 ton, at least in pickups. different axles and springs allow a heavier GVW but its still not a one ton.

i have an 04 e250. mechanic says it is built on the 1 ton chassis and requires 1 ton parts. when i look up suspension parts they fit the e350 also. gvrw is 8660 though. had 2900 lbs in it and the headlights went high.

the 250 has a base engine of 4.6. the 350 a 5.4. perhaps for the extra 1000 lbs the 5.4 is required with all the other components the same.

didn't really help ya did i?

i would say it is a 3/4 built on a 1 ton chassis.

The 1-ton trucks do get a bigger frame, the 3/4 ton trucks are usually just a beefed up 1/2 ton frame with heavier springs and axles.

3/4 ton vans are now built on 1 ton chassis and in 2008 even the 1/2 ton van has 1 ton wheels that are 8 bolt and a one ton chassis
