I have a '96 F150 w/5.0 engine.I'm currently running straight pipes(duals) from the Cats to the rear.I want to get a deeper,more aggressive sound.Does anyone have a suggestion on a muffler I can add?I
I have the same setup on my 92 Nite with a 5.0 The only difference is that i cut off my rear cat. It is very deep and throughty sounding. I also added 22 inch long by 3 1/2 diameter tips, they give exhaust a nice deeper note too. I would not recomend getting any muffler added to what you have, all it will do is make it quieter. I would just cut off or knock out the rear cat or replace both with a single high flow cat,and keep the straight pipes and add large diameter tips. It is not annoying loud and i cannot even hear it when i hit overdrive. Basically it is loud outside and not inside, you would be happy. I am
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-Aug-02 AT 06:08 PM (EST)]Thanks for the advice!!Any idea on a good high flow cat?Price? Will this cause any idot light problems?(CHECK ENGINE)
Just check on ebay for one i would get a 2 1/2 inch one. You will have to put in a y to make the two pipes from the manifold into one and then have the cat put on. Then have it conected to your y pipe. You will not get any check engin lights at all. You wont have to mess with the oxygen sensor so there will be no problems. Try to get a cat with an air tube hookup so that you can hook up the existing air tube. If you dont want to do all this just knock out the rear cat it will save you all the time and money. I just cut mine off. LEt me know if you need any other info
