i have a 300i6 and was wondering if i would get a flowmaster delta flow 50 series muffler (2.5" in and out) and run 2.5" from the resignator will it give me a nice, mellow rumble, but not enough to annoy me as i drive or drown out my stereo. i dont want it to sound like a washer full of soup cans or them dam rice burners either. also to cat or not to cat for a bit more quietness? i dont care about emmsions, so thats not a major concern.
also in the future if i get a heddmen header for my truck, will this exhaust be an easy bolt up?
I don't know about the Hedman Hedder, but go with a 40 series flow is you do go flow. You'll love the rumble! Also, from my experience with someone else's truck, a Flowmaster 70 series sounds like CRAP on a 300.
The 40 series is a loud muffler. You want the 50 series w/o the deltaflow crap. I have a 50 non-deltaflow on my american thunder and it's loud enough to hear well when the windows are down and the radio is low, but when you roll the windows up and the radio is on a normal level, you can't hear it at all.
Primary rig is Green Thunder:
95' F-150 XLT 4x4, 302, 5 spd, MSD 6A, Flowmaster American Thunder Exhaust, Sunroof, Clear corners w/ Diamond headlights, CD player with 2 10" subs and some 32" BFG Muds .

Then theres:
99' Mustang GT 4.6L
88' F-250 Heavyduty 4x4 351/c6
95' Mercury Cougar 4.6L V-8
80' E-350 300/6 with a
3 spd column shifter. Weighs around 7,000lbs w. 65mph top speed, who wants to race me!
I have the delta series (50series) on my F-150 v-8 and it sounds great from outside when my g/f drives away in it. But from the inside its just a nice low mellow tone but knowing that everyone else can hear it outside alot louder brings a smile to my face. Its alright its better to be a bit lower tone in the cab for long distance trips. I think the 50 series is a good choice if your looking for a mellow tone and not the all the time loud pounding sound.
My 50 series w/o the deltaflow, sounds nice and loud outside but not inside. You can't hear it with the windows up and the radio at a normal level. Can't hear it on the highway with the windows down and the radio OFF. The deltaflow is quieter than my 50 series original.

well i dont know if my budget is going to allow for a flowmaster of any sort, but i was thinking on doing something else. would a Thrush pack be any good if i mounted it with tha quiet side out. or would a dynomax super turbo be any better/worse. i do plan on keeping the stock cat on (again due to budget) so that should keep things fairly quiet. and would i get any performance gains from doing a muffler change or do i need to step up and get larger diameter pipe also?
If money is a concern, either buy just a flowmaster muffler, and have a shop weld it inplace of the old one, or buy a glasspack or cherry bomb and weld it in place. Flows are about 60 bucks, universal cats are around there too, so it's not that expensive. If you put it on the stock exhaust, it will be ok, but not great.

dude, just get a summit catback. They're $150, and have a sound between the 40 and 50 series flows. It includes a single in, dual out muffler and it exits under the bumper. If I had it to do again, that's what I'd do.
