i am buyin a dana 60 out of a dully and its wider than the regular dana 60 will it really make a diffrents because im puttin it into a 89 F250 and besides the tires stickin out is there anything diffrent?
thanks
nick
well i run 40's on my truck now so i was thinkin i would just leave them and let the tires stick out and just fab up some fender flars because with the 40 turing radius isnt very good at all
thanks
nick
the problem i see with doing that is the offset is gonna put way too much improper weight loading on the spindle and bearings, causing them to self destruct.
i mean is there a way of getting around taking the adapters off without killin my spindles becuase then i would get some better turning radius out of it are there like some heavy duty bearings i could throw in there?? or something along those like???
thanks for the help so far!
i dont quite understand the whole bud rims.... im a little slow i know lol i have 16.5 american racing rims with 39.5/15/16.5 tires now.... if i took the adapters off and got wheel spacers would that work?
thanks
nick
The purpose of the bud rims is to not put much weight on one side of the axle bearing so that you don't wear them out and have problems, your idea of the spacers will place an uneven load to one side and eventually lead to problems, if it were my truck and I wanted 40" tires I would either lift the truck/body or trim the panel/fender that it is hitting, which if not done properly can lead to more stress problems/cracks and may look unsightly w/ cut outs that don't follow the body lines, unless you spend money for fender flares. Another option is to buy tall tires which aren't as wide, thus giving you the stance/clearance you desire w/out all the problems. Of course another option is to convert the rear wheels to a duallie and buy a set of 6 tall mud tires for the bud wheels, which could run into $$ but the 16.5 tires are becoming more difficult to find in asst'd. sizes. If you have the tires, swap out the adapters, run the tires you have and don't destoy it off road until you come to a decision.
pic of bud rim, in case you are unfamilar w/ them
