Hello, I want to put in hiboy front springs on my 79 f-250 4x4 for about a 2" lift. I also want to build some longer spring mounts in the front to gain some more lift along with longer shackles. I'm looking to gain about a total of 5" of lift with a shackle flip in the rear. I've been searching, and want to see some pics of custom front spring mounts on f250/350 4x4's. I've seen a bunch, but want to compile an album to get ideas for my design. Also, I do not want to buy just a 4" spring because I made a promise to myself that this will be a strict budget build for less than $1000. I have freee hiboy springs already, and have some 4' x 6' x 1/4" wall tube that I can use for the mounts. I have seen some pics of 75F350's stuff and it looks top notch. Also, I did not know whether or not to place this in the offroad forum or not. Thanks let me see what you got!!!
A little on my build is a 79 f250 with dana 60's front and rear. with a little buying and selling of parts so far I am in just over $1k and I have all rust repair panels needed and 36"x14.5" swamper tires and rims. Should be pretty close to wheeling, just afraid of the gears i have (3.54 ratio!!) but I'll try it first.
That was very nice of you to say. Thank you.
As for your lift, you will gain right at about 4 inches of lift just by installing the HB front springs. The dimensions are exactly the same, so you do not have to change a thing. There is one bolt diameter difference, but it is minimal. You can drill the factory frot hanger to accomodate the slightly larger bolt. Simple stuff really.
Stock HB springs will provide a reasonable amount of lift. Your budget will lift your truck and allow you to have plenty of bank left over.
You will not have to make any type of custom hangers for the 4 inches that you seek.
As far as the rear, you can gain the same amount of lift with the shackle flip.
Thanks for the reply, on my old truck I put highboy springs that were used and got maybe 3", prob closer to 2 though. That truck is long gone. The springs I have are once again used, and I was looking for a bit more than that. Maybe I can just get some hiboys springs with an add-a -leaf? Maybe I'll just copy the stock hangers with the tube just like 3-4" longer? I'm about a month from this though until I get my welder back from my buddies!!!
