HPOP question

Hey guys I just saw a video wherein........they were saying to change the oil in the hpop every time you change your oil.......in that...... the regular oil in the engine didn't mix very well up into the hpop.......the pic they showed of the oil coming out of the hpop was very ugly.......scared the hell out of me. I didn't know you had to do this..........so I immediately went out and took a look.........pulled out my hpop plug..........all looked well........real clean.....I pulled out a quart.......(oh by the way I just changed the oil in it 3 days ago and have driven it very little since then)..........it looked almost like new.........so I put another quart in the hpop........let it run for 10 minutes then pulled the plug again.......it still looked like brand new so I just called it quits..........I guess it is supposed to have 4 quarts up in there......anyway I figure it is fine............so my question is.........is it necessary to do this on our trucks every oil change........or does our trucks get the oil up there just fine.......so just what is the deal.

It's suppose to circulate, but I remember when I changed my IPR, the oil in the HPOP was as thick as honey. Although before I did that I was getting 17 mpg and after that I was getting 14. Go figure, I guess the thicker it is the better mileage, lol

I'm getting right at 20 mpg.......only thing I've done is the air filter and BB thingy and that is with a big winch on the front and a heavy metal camper shell on the rear.........two huge dogs and me.

That's weird about the hpop.......when I first took the screw out.........it was clean as a whistle on the bottom of the plug and the oil looked just like it had come out of the container......I put one qt. just for GP......but couldn't see any reason to suck it out twice more and add more new oil..........go figure

I do however religiously change my oil and fliter between 2000-3000 miles rarely go over that.
