I put two brand new 29" Cherry Bombs on my 78 F150 460/4x4 and found them to be too quiet (At the time I didn't know that shorter was louder). I took those off and put on two 21" (shortest I could find) and still found it to be very quiet. I've been told that they do "burn out" (the fiberGLASS PACKing that is) relatively quickly and get louder. Not wanting to wait, I made up some straight pieces of exhaust pipe that match the length & diameter of the GPs, and put those on. Now they're loud enough.
Although it's just for muddin', when I have to plow snow in the winter, I can just jam the glasspacks onto the end of the pipes. It looks goofy, but works.
