I just purchased a set of train horns along with the air compressor. When it gets in i will have pictures of it and hopefully a video or two. Just a couple quick questions: Should I mount the compressor in the tool box? Where can i mount the horns? And is there any way to hook up the compressor and the horns to the door locks, so when you lock your truck the train horn will sound instead of the factory horn? Sorry its a long post but thanks in advance.
yeah you can hook it in place of ur factory alarm but it will get old. depends what ur trigger for the horns is if its electrical or air switch. either way it can be done just need to know what setup you have ordered to steer you the right direction. The ones who have used air horns in place of stock horn regret it a few weeks later after hearing it every time they lock
I found the horn wire in the large harness that goes over top of the engine, at the wiper cowl, cut it, then ran it back into the cab on a switch, and then the 12v power out to the solenoid on the valve at the line. That way in the cab, i can switch between a stock horn and the "air horn" as i call it, and back. Im suprised i havent shattered windows with them yet
I get out of my truck, hit the lock button twice and they all sound off one crack and sends a shockwave of noise through the parking lot, awesome
Also install a kill switch for your compressor. Just in case you blow a line--Not that I have done that.
I have my horns under the cab, drivers side and compressor attached to the frame rail on passenger side. The air tanks, one is just behind the transfer case and the other directly behind the compressor. 12gal.@200psi. This setup lasts for at least 2 miles doing about 45mph. 100%duty cycle compressor.
