A friend of a friend drag races this early 80's F-series.
In the earlier days, it was still racing with the 4wd suspension and hubs. While in the staging lane the driver would step outside of the truck to turn the hubs by hand. They weren't connected, but it always bewildered the guy next to him.
At our 1/4-mile track, I saw it run 11's time after time during street night events. It was freakish seeing something this big run so fast! It could run and hide from anyhing that staged along side of it.
It evolved from an 11-second daily driver to this tubbed pro street thing!
An 8 second F-150, "WOW", thats haulin!!!!!! What does have powering that thing, a 460 or would I dare say a small block? I've seen some storked 351w that would haul, they can now sroke them to a 427 and a liitle bigger. I've seen them launch in a mustang witha 427 small block, they launch so hard it looks like the car is going to come a part. It's amzing the speeds they now get. Back in the day when I was drag racing, even if you could get into the 11's or 12's you had an awesome car that was feared. Now they have 10 second daily drivers.
Those handicapped races are interesting. That might have been only an 11-second Mustang!

It has a 460 block that is bored and stroked. I forgot how many cubes it totals.
The 8-second run is impressive. Like I mentioned before, it was freakish when it was street driven, still had the stock suspension and was turning 11's. We've all seen pickup trucks run at the track, but it was comical seeing the fast cars trying to keep up with it. It just walked away from Vipers and Z06 Vettes!
