Off topic, but Joe do you read everyone elses post just fine, or how does your dyslexia effect that?
I'm just wonderin because I too am dyslexic but I learned to read on my own at a very young age, so I learned to read my way and not the phoneics way or whatever they tried teaching me, which oddly I am a great reader and great speller, but I can't spell out loud at all and if people spell things to me it comes out funny. I think the education screws kids up trying to teach them to read with a single way, because I could read 2nd grade level in Pre-k, but when Kindergarten came around they began teaching us to read, I failed miserably, but then my Dad watched me and told me to read my way and forget what they were telling me to do.
Joe,
Looks like a typical 3/4 ton HP Dana 44 front axle. They came with larger brakes than the 1/2 ton 44's did, hence the big calipers. The knuckles yokes were originally welded to the axle tubes. The gussets have been added, either to strenghten a break at the knuckle or to prevent one from happening. The main cause of these yokes cracking or breaking is abuse by jumping or EXTREMELY overloading it.
Take a measurement of the locking hub body. It should be 3 1/2" in diameter.
And if you can, measure the Over All Length (OAL) from the top to the bottom of the axle end knuckle yoke. I can measure both a Dana 44 and 60 for you to compare with.
Hard to see, but I think it has ball joints.
An F600 4wd would use an axle much stouter than a D60. They would most likely be using a Rockwell or Eaton closed knuckle design. And I think F500's up all used air brakes.
Standard size for a 3/4 ton with dual piston calipers whether it had a 44 or 60 in the front. It is the same size as my '93 Dana 60 caliper, just a different mounting design.
I had a difficult time seeing what you were pointing the camera at. So I didn't get a good look at them. Dave S or David85 would be better to tell you as they know that body style much better than I do.
The camera moved too fast and was out of focus so I couldn't see too well.
The "thing" under the hood looked like a standard HIGH AMP protected mounting post.
My Dodge-Cummins has a block with four of them for the grid pre-heater (intake air).
whats that dose it affecet my break lights chagering system cause the fuse is burnt out but u have to say this is easyer them try to read some of my other post
