thermostat?

would the wrong thermo keep it from getting hot air? it gets just warm now. early in the fall i had a pluged heater core that i blew out with a compresser and it flows nice now. the only thing i can think of is the thermo being the wrong temp(got it at autozone) and did not check it when i got it just put it in.

Flow does not mean good heat transfer. If there is a layer of crud, corrosion or anything else inside the tubes of the core, it acts like insulation. This prevents the heat from the coolant from transferring to the core. If the heat isn't transferring, then the metal fins of the core do not get as hot as they should, which of course keeps the air passing through from getting hot as well.

See if you can beg/borrow/steal one of those infar-red thermometers: Point it at the manifold just upstream of the thermostat housing, then at the thermostat housing, and then at the outlet of the thermostat housing. That will tell you everything you want to know.
(You could also point it at the heater core inlet hose and outlet hose to see if the core is giving up heat.)
