I was pulling my snowmobile trailer for the first time this weekend the trailer has electric brakes and the truck has the factory tow command.
On the way to the U.P of Michigan Thursday the speedo needle went from 70MPH to ~40MPH and the ABS light came on, it stayed on the rest of the way. Leaving today the light was ON then after 15 minutes or so it went off, then an hour later the speedo did the same thing and the ABS light back on.
We stopped for lunch and notice the brake and stop lights on the trailer did not work, the running lights okay, the lights on the truck were fine. This may just be another issue?
Leaving after lunch the light went off then 20 minutes later speedo jumped like before and the light back ON. The speed only seemed to jump when the light turned on never after the light was on.
Any idea? did a search and thinking Vehicle speed sensor?
I had the identical problem described by the original poster. I just purchased an F-350 thru ebay in CA. About 500 miles into the return trip cruise control kicked off, the speedo and other gauges started to rapidly decrease and the abs light came on. Everything worked fine except for the light remaining on. The next morning the light was on initially but went off after a few minutes. A couple hundred miles later the same thing happened again. This time I was paying attention--prior to the event there were a few widely spaced burps in performance. Was curious as to how this was resolved by the original poster.

Well After I returned home the light went off and has not came on since but I have only drove ~200 miles about 1/2 with the trailer. The turn and brake lights were a fuse under the hood #9 if I remember right. I did unplug the VSS and cleaned the connector but have not removed the sensor yet. I plan on a return trip to the UP the first week in Feb I will post back how if goes, until then I won't be driving much. Post up any findings you come up with.
