Help needed

Hey everyone me and my dad decided to check if the GPR on the truck was bad but the quick connectors are troubling us. Is there a way to get them off with out breaking them?

What are you referring to as quick connectors Jacob? The nuts that hold the wires on the posts?

There are some quick connectors on the valve covers. Me and my dad are thinking those are for the glow plugs. We are trying to make sure the glow plugs are good and just the GPR is bad, since the truck starts real hard in temperatures of 5* or lower.

You have to press with a screwdriver on the middle part and pull. The front 2 and back 2 pins are for the glow plugs. They should read around .6 ohms, no more than 2.

Yes those are a pain to get off. Once you press down on the center release tab, it sometimes helps to take a very small screwdriver and use it to help pull the plug out of the connector. Robin has a picture of this somewhere. I'll see if I can find it for you.

Edit: Found it

Jacob here is the pin out for the harnesses.
uvc pin out
Pin Out at the valve cover to test them,,
G G I I C I I G G
G=Glow Plug +
I = Injector +
C= Injector Common
***The injectors fire with a 115VDC signal from the IDM do not pierce to wires to test.***
Ohm between "I" and "C" to test the injectors, should be less than 5.0 Ohms
To check glow plugs Ohm between "G" and battery ground should be between 0.1 and 2.0 Ohms

Thanks guys. This really helps. I will keep you updated if it is the glow plugs or the GPR, that's giving me troubles.

Hey everyone I tested the GPs and the #s I got were(back to front) Right side: 068, 120, 067, and 115. Left side: 122, 126, 170, and 180. The meter I used didn't show a decimal point anywhere so I am not certain if the ohm levels are with in normal specs.

Assuming your ohm meter is working good you have bad glow plugs. Motorcraft are probably the best. I would stay away from autolite.

I thought the Ohm level had to be between 0.1 and 2.0 ohms. I am pretty sure the meter is working correctly.

Yes, that is correct. All your readings are out of spec.

When I had the meter set on a lower Ohm reading level when I measured the right rear glowplug the Ohm reading was 06 or something similar(I can't remember cause I didn't write it down.) I'll try testing the glowplugs again with a different meter. I highly doubt that all of the glowplugs are shot.

My meter is auto ranging. I doubt all of yours are shot that is why I questioned the meter or as you pointed out a setting.

Me and my dad, between the 2 of us have almost no clue when it comes to electrical stuff. I don't know the brand of meter we used but I can find out.
