power steering conversions question

Got a p/s unit from a 75 to put on my 72 V8. Think I have all brackets and bolts etc. Could someone post a pic of how the pump is attached to the engine?

I have done several searches but have been unable to find any diagrams or pics.

Thanks,

Sorry no, when I did my power conversion i used a pump from a latemodel explorer 302 and converted to a serp. belt. those early pumps are too unreliable. I f you post a pic of the brackets u have I'm sur i could tell you where / how they go

I think I have figured out where the pieces go but I do have another question. The bracket that attaches to the head has a shaft with threads on each end. I am afraid of damaging the threads by trying to turn the shaft inside of the bracket. It seems locked tight. How do you attach the thing to the head?

Thanks

There are 2 ways to do this, depending on how much you sticking out of the end of the pump bracket you have to work with.
I would recommend cleaning the threaded hole in the head with a tap so that it will go together easier.
If you have plenty of threads, put 2 nuts on the end of the threaded rod and jam them together. Slide it into the bracket and start into the head. Tighten until it bottoms out.

I have also taken the radiator loose, installed the threaded rod. And then installed the bracket onto it. In those cases, I didn't have enough threads to do the nut trick.

Got the p/s installed. What a difference. Glad I did this early on. Lot of trial and error, learned a lot about adjusting the steering column.

Thanks for the help.
