Scammed - Do I have recourse?

My Sister ordered me a Leatherman for Chrismas online, she paid for it with a debit card. Well it still isn't here, neither one of us has been able to get a hold of the company by phone or e-mail. And after doing some searching online I found several complaints of them scamming people. Having paid with a debit card should she just kiss her money goodbye or is there something we can do to get it back?
thanks
-matt

Is it a Visa debit card? If so Visa offers all sorts of protection. The best thing she can do is take the receipt that they gave her when she checked out to the bank and see if it cleared.

Read through this.

Making a return with debit card can be tough (Page 1 of 2)

If I understand it correctly, she should have used a credit card.

its not really that fishy. most places want the addresses to match (less chance of them being scammed)

If you can't get ahold of the company after one week, I'd contact the bank, who should be able to help.

Dont you have to pay for debit in person? If so, go back to where you paid, raise a little hell.

Most banks do offer some sort of protection though.

You can use a debit card online just like a credit card.

Like I said if it's a VISA debit card and it was run through as a CREDIT card (mine does this) VISA will help.
