Recently I took a look around my truck because I was thinking about taking off the running boards. While doing this I found a spot of bubbly paint and put my finger on it and floonk my finger goes into and I'm left with the start of cancer with a hole a little bigger than a quarter
I own an 02' F-150 screw with 115k on it. The hole is located beneath the door on the rocker panel above the running boards. It's accessible to the outside with the door closed and running boards on, I didn't take them off it was just an idea to make the truck seem higher than it actually is.
Is there a way to fix this rust without cutting the rocker panel out and replacing it? Is there a way to stop the spread of this "cancer"?
My friends started out like this on his Chevy and he said in a year it went from a quarter size to him fitting his arm inside it, we do live in Michigan and I understand the salt, mud, water, and road grime does not help much.
You can buy a patch panel and cut/weld in what you need. Only way to know how bad is start grinding paint till you reach good metal. Once bad stuff is cut out, you can spray interior with a rust encapsulator or POR-15 to stop further rust.
I have some rust by a rear window on my Ex. I've seen an ad for "Silver Bullet". Has anyone used this stuff and did it work? The rust area is about the size of a quarter.
