FX4 vs. Platinum

I'm trying to convince myself to get a flame blue Fx4 instead of a gray/silver/black platinum so ill use this thread to help organize my thoughts.

by choosing the fx4 i will be giving up:
rain sensing wipers
cooled seats
power running boards(not a big deal because they're available aftermarket)
powertilt
universal garage door opener
nice plat interior(maybe a positive-i work in an oilfield)
memory mirrors?

but gaining:
locker(i've been stuck in my own driveway before)
remote start
smaller wheels

anything incorrect or left out? thanks

You can add remote start to the Platinum now as it's been confirmed it can be fitted but still unsure if alarm has to be disabled.

If you were to test drive them and see them both side by side it would be very difficult not to pick the platinum. It has some great features and really wows you when you see it. Esp with the Dark brown and black interior of the platinum. The only problem is it gets a little to much attention as it really stands out. I often come out of Lowe's and there people walking around it looking through the windows.

yeah the plat is real nice but as i said i work in an oilfield and the mud and grease wouldnt go well with that interior. i think the fx4 interior is more fitting for me but i would like to keep some of the plat features.

i got a good price on an fx4 today 4000 off sticker plus whatever rebates are available at delivery time. if only my trade was worth a little more.

If i was in your line of work i would have seat covers on when im working anyway, no matter what model it would be. $7000 of an fx4 seems to be about the going discount at the moment on an fx4 you could get around $8k of a base platinum and about $9K of a loaded paltinum. Make sure you post some pics when you get it.

Did you opt for the FX4 due to the locker, the interior, the price or all?

$7000 of an fx4 seems to be about the going discount at the moment...

I wish I could find a dealer that would offer me that discount %.

A dealer isn't going to offer any discount unless it's sanctioned by a Ford discount or the product isn't selling, ie. the '08 F-150's.

Get a letter of commitment from your lender, you've already done your homework and go in there with guns a blazin'. You'll get your deal from someone.

i opted for the fx4 for the darker interior and the locker. the plat was really nice but i need to take this thing camping and stuff. plus i can easily get the bumpers rhino lined if they get scratched. sure wish i could get the cooled seats on it though. oh well not much of a summer anyway here in idaho. also the plat just doesnt seem fitting for a 23 year old. the fx4 is a little more my age.
the $3000 difference isn't that big of deal on a 45k truck.
I'm really happy with my dealer. No bs. Just walked in and he said here is the price: 4k off sticker plus rebates(hopefully 3k+)

broncobran68,

Are you replacing the f350 in your signature with this truck? Based on what you have listed, that truck sounds like a beast.
