To make it a short post, I have new glow plugs, new uvc harness, and batteries and gpr are all good. It has been starting up great the past couple days. Today starts right up, I drive to work and it sits for about five hours. Come out to leave and it barely turns over. I jump it and starts fine, does it to me two more times when I got home and neither time it sat longer then half an hour. I noticed to day that the belt had some play when running, it was no squeaking but could it not have been charging the batterys well enough? I changed the belt tensioner tonight and will let you guys know tomorrow what happens. Ant thoughts in the meantime?
Stick a volt meter on the back of the alternator and make sure it's putting out 14 volts or so at idle. Then check the voltage at the batteries at idle to make sure they read the same voltage.
Any corrosion or loose connections on the battery cables? How about the grounds? Next time it doesn't want to start, leave the key on and try jumping the starter solenoid relay on the passenger fender with a screwdriver. If the truck starts up with the screwdriver, you may have a ground or connection issue.
Had similar problem after installing a few things then installing 2 new batteries. My buuddy put 1 battery in and I did the other. Wouldn't start in the morning, I called a jump truck, opened my hood and noticed the battery my buddy put on was loose. Thats it, just loose. Dumb little thing, but thats what these turn out to be sometimes.
I finally got my truck from my BIL. I have had it a week so far. He drove it to work a couple weeks before I picked it up and when he went out to go home it would not start. He tried to jump start it, but no go. Had it towed to the ford dealer. $900 later it had new batteries and all new cables. Starts with no problem now.
