That recall doesn't apply to your particular situation. However, it is a critical safety recall that MUST be performed on every eligible vehicle.

Most likely, you have the very common problem of a frayed TCS harness where it exits the shift lever. Pull the column shrouds and inspect it.

I have only had the truck 3 years with minimal problems. Just recently things have got worse. I started it up yesturday and it seemed like it was only firing on a few cylanders. Now I have nothing but a solid wall of white smoke through the exhaust. This probably explains where my antifreeze has been going.

But it still looks good

That sounds like yet another common 4.2 failure.

At least it hasn't hydro-locked....yet.

Problem solved it was the TCS harness thanks . I changed the oil and found no antifreeze whatsoever. I did inspect the PCV valve to find the white buildup . I cleaned it out and the exhaust seems to be back to normal ( probably a fluke).

I havent drove it often in the past week but still think the issue is in the lower intake manifold gasket. The leak is external but i'll be danged if I cant pin point it. I dont lose much antifreeze , but it dont take much to make a problem worse.

Anyone looking for a truck?
