Door Open Light Switch/Sensor
I have a 97 F250 Extended Cab with the third door.
Just recently when the passenger door is shut, the inside light stays on and the indicator showing a door is open stays on.
Is there a switch or contact some where in the door which might need fixing/cleaning?

I've had this happen and have heard of a few others who had the same. The door switch, which is actually park of the locking mechanism in the door, seems to have a bit of a problem and the lights don't go out inside. Especially nice at night, when you're driving down the street with the inside lights on. or trying to lock the doors with an alarm or remote entry. I was still undere warranty so I brought it into the dealer for replacement. Of course it worked perfect there, but they changed it anyway. Well, that's where I'd look. It's a Ford "feature" that you can't hardly get to the switch too to try and fix yourself. Good luck, Chris

> I have a 97 f150, I had the same problem now its worst. The door will not lock at all. You must have the same part, I have been researching this problem and I believe Ford has a defective part. cost $11 parts, $84 labor, its not the money its the fact that its a bad part.
