shaving head/decking block question

I am in the midst of an engine rebuild. I just bought the Fed. Mogul/speed pro H519P30 pistons which have a compression ratio of 8.5:1, and want to raise the compression a bit to about 9.0:1, like some of you have recommended. I am waiting for the pistons to arrive before taking the block and bottom end to machine shop.

My mechanic is concerned that if the block is decked, or the head milled, I may need to get shorter push rods, because with the stock rods the valves will not be opening as much as they should, thereby defeating the purpose of a better cam.

Has anyone run into this before? Is this a concern? Will I need to replace the pushrods, or is the amount to be shaved/milled so little that it doesn't matter.

Please take into account that I have had the valves changed to over size sb chevy valves, and the machinist has said that now I have adjustable valves, just like on a chevy.

Thanks.

Shorter push rods are no big deal. Let the machinist handle the details. Just a change in the valve size has nothing to do with changing the valve train to an adjustable rocker set up which may be required with solid lifters and cam and unless you want to be pulling the valve cover and checking lash on a regular basis don't go that route.
