2003 Expi Stereo Question

I'm a newb to the board, mostly a VW guy myself but my wife drives a 2003 Expedition XLT 2wd with the 4.6ltr motor. My car is down for a while and I wanted to put the 8" bazooka tube I have into my wife's truck. Before I go tearing the whole thing apart I'm wondering if I can get some help determining if I have a factory amplifier and if so where it's located.

If you have the Audiophile system, then the factory amp and sub are in the driver's side rear panel. If you're wanting to add the bazooka, then you probably don't have the Audiophile.

Ok lets say it doesn't. Is there a way to get an audio signal (high level is fine) without opening the dash or doors? It seems like with the rear audio controls that there must be some sort of device inside the center consul or something.

If that's not true then how do I get the radio out because it doesn't appear to use keys.

Can't help ya there, but I know some guys on here have done stereo work on their 03+ Expy's. Maybe they'll chime in.

I ended up finding a good web site with information on how to remove the radio. I'd rather not wire back there on a vehicle that has a warranty but I can use some of those clip on wire taps so I don't damage the factory wiring and I have a LOC (line-out converter) so it shouldn't be too bad.
