I am about finished with a frame off restoration, time for exhaust. The truck is 1979 4x4 F-250 with a 400, Weiand 4v intake, Holley 600cfm 4 barrel, headers 1 5/8" into 3" collectors. plan to run true dual stainless steel with ss mufflers. My question is what size piping should I use. Don't want to lose any power/torque or make a mistake with oversized pipe.
If you're going to stay right there as far as engine performance, you'd be fine with 2.25. But if you ever plan on putting a better cam or anything else in, step up to 2.5" Sounds like a cool truck be the way!
I agree. Go with the 2 1/2's. I'm running dual 2 1/2's off my 400 in my 79 250 and it sounds goood! Power is good too, esp for being mainly stock. My 78 Bronco has 2 1/4's coming off it's 400 and it sounds good, but not as good as the 2 1/2's.
