K&n Filter...help Please!!
Now im not here to "Jump to K&N's defence" as someone else stated it...all i can say for is what ive experienced... my trucks got the traditional cheap paper fram filter... and everytime ive pulled the cover off i find the inside BEHIND the filter loaded with dirt granduals laying on the bottom of the tray.. I found the same thing happening all the way back to the Throttle Body on my mustang when i pulled the intake tubing off...
My truck still runs the cheap fram ones.. (even though id like to find out how much more mileage i could squeeze out of it with a K&N).. but my stangs has been changed with a factory replacement K&N drop in filter.. ive already cleaned and re-oiled the filter once and yet to have any dusting/oil saturating problems with my maf that other stang owners have claimed to of had.. (alot of people suspect they over oiled their filters to cause that result) at the same time ive had the intake tube off couple times since i installed the K&N to get it out of the way when wroking on other things.. and i havent found any dirt granduals at the Throttle body since.. nor any in the tubing..
As i said im not here to defend K&N or push people to buy them.. Im just here to relay my experience with it.. i also went from hwy average of 29mpg to 32mpg on the stang..
