Got the call from the machine shop today with the news. He said both of my heads were cracked. Its a good thing I went ahead and ordered the o-ringed heads and studs from liberater performance! What else would you do if you was me since the motor is already out.

If your not planning on doing any wild modding for sure I would do:
ITP's Regulated Return Kit
EGR blockoff(if you have a good trustful exhaust shop, might be the cheapest way)
If your wanting to go mod crazy:
Injectors
Turbo
Fluidampner
A/M Fuel System(FASS, Airdog etc)
Now is actually going to be the cheapest time to do it as far as labor goes unless your going to be doing the labor later on.
Wow, I bet them heads were a small fortune?! Without a doubt no matter what your plans are delete the EGR while its out. Much easier to access the turbo up pipe and cooler etc. Also like stated above, if you plan to do any modding later on do the RR kit while its out. Much easier to acces the back of the head to install it! Same with the injectors. THe turbo and fuel sytem is easily done with the engine in the truck.
Thanks, Im not to sure what a rr fuel system is. Im going to do the delete but im really to scared to do anything more to it.
Its really sad my head gaskets have been bad probally since 30,000 miles and the dealer kept telling me they were ok though? That was probally the main cause of all the problems.
But now after a little over $4k (not counting my own time) just maybe it will run just like it did when I drove it off the lot (Couldn't ask for a better truck).
On the top of the page at the Sponsors, you'll see ITP Diesel ( middle-right section ).
It is a regulated return fuel system, it meant to avoid the dead-end symptom in the heads, it saves the injectors with keeping the fuel pressure even at all of the injectors...

Oh yea, turbo is just two hours and a lot of yanking to Matt while we did it. I did the FASS system myself and if I were to do it all over again, it would have been worth it to get someone else to do it. Not my idea of a stress free afternoon.
I threw those in there though because if he was having someone else doing the labor, they typically don't charge more then just the labor for the heads since everything is already out and/or off.
