Also the only thing Z-Maxx will do is lighten your wallet. There's only one way to restore engine hp on a tired engine and thats will a rebuild, there's no magic bullet. You believe too much in what you read from these snake oil salesmen and performance parts manufactures. The manufactures like K&N get thier high hp numbers because they dyno tune the vehicke with there part on it, meaning they adjust the air/fuel, timming and what not while it's on the dyno to get the most out put from thier part. Also some parts are better than others. I like pre-runner trucks, there cool, but with a 4" lift, I would go with a set of BFG AT KO's-31x10.50/15's and at least 4:10 gears. 31" tires will fill up the fender wells better and still not be that much bigger of a tire, but will look much better.
Then you chose the wrong project truck. No way is a Ranger Vulcan going to make 200 hp without some serious work & maybe some boost. Why do you care what girls think if you're already hitched anyway? I don't & I'm not hitched. Then again, if they're too bubbled-headed to be impressed by a work truck that outpaces a little toy then it could never be worth an effort anyway... Maybe being 35 has me jaded.
hahaha ya but no one wants to put 3000 in to a truck and haven everyone look at it when its stoped at a light then when the light turns green its slowly pops and pudders away
as for the other a chip or programmer.... its a 91.... it has less brains than my rottie < and she is pretty dumb) and like i said for the plugs i have seen them work first hand in my strip car
they gave me a more complete burn i got 23 hp from just putting them in then again it was a v8... but still
in my eyes ( and i have spent my whole life with v8s )... i like the 3.0 just dont want a lift and bigger tires with out adding some stuff to the motor and i mean if it come down to it fine ill pull the whole thing and do a rebuild the way i want it ( but thats gonna have to wait till i move again.... and i have to drive the bike every where...)
but anything thats not an entire re build sugestions would be nice... and when im aloud to post pictures on here >.> ill put some pictures up of..... the truck and the motor
Welcome to MY World... Rogue Group Read it. He's a pretty clever fella & the most in-depth on Ranger Vulcans I've seen on the web. After you restore the tune, his mods should help a bit. But you ARE going to need Ford's tuning pretty good 1st. ACT, IAC, etc sensors happy & a nice thermostat at least 180 degrees with good flow through the pump & rad. If you get any CEL's, get a LCD readout code scanner from Murray's for $30. Then keep an eye on those plugs you mentioned. Ford's ignition system is VERY demanding of spark plugs due to higher energy output than you'd probably think. The OEM's are not junk, but you might get an even stronger coil if you hunt around carefully. That's another debate.
All I know is if you think your gonna get 200 hp out of a 3.0 with out forced induction, they must have pretty good acid in your neck of the woods. You can't make a duck soar like an eagle no matter how many feathers you add, it's still a duck. I've never heard of these miricle plugs in which you speak. If they were all that, they should be all over the web and performance mags. I think we have a lot of wishfull thinking going on here, or some really good acid!!!!!!!!!
Well, if you do max out the build & boost the volumetric efficiency with a REALLY good hydroxy boost, it might be worth a run on a dyno. Maybe - not likely. An engine is an air pump. Once you reach its max normally aspirated airflow, it'll take a Nikola Tesla or a Smokey Yunick to get more out of it without a blower or turbo. I'm including ignition, effective CAI & exhaust in the build, so that aspect of volumetric is included in maxing the build 1st. From what I've read lately, port-matching carefully everything as per Rogue Perf a good idea followed by a pro polishing of exhaust & upper intake (not lower where the injector nozzles are. There you want turbulence. In fact, probably a good idea to leave lower portion of the upper intake a bit rough the closer it is to the injectors. Well, I suppose you could get some advice from the likes of Lingenfelter too. I believe he's still alive.
